The distance between the nearest and the furthest objects that are in acceptably sharp focus in an image captured with a camera. The range of distance that appears acceptably sharp, influenced by camera type, aperture, focusing distance, print size, and viewing distance. The area of acceptable sharpness in front of and behind the subject which the lens is focused. A measure of how much of a picture is in focus, with a certain zone of ‘acceptable sharpness’.
