The School of Arts and Humanities is comprised of six academic departments, the Institute of Arts and Humanities with 17 academic and writing programs, the Institute for Practical Ethics, and three centers: the Center for Hellenic Studies, the Center for Taiwan Studies and the Suraj Israni Center for Cinematic Arts.

In these courses, students examine the development of a wide variety of ideas and forms of expression that exert a major influence on modern America.
WEBHUM 1 explores the origins of many of the beliefs that have shaped our world and defined what it means to be human. As the first course in the HUM sequence, HUM 1 introduces students to the study of the Humanities through engagement with foundational works of literature, philosophy, history, and art from the Ancient Mediterranean.
